Jeanin and Emek: Henna Celebration

A week before Jeanine and Emeks wedding I received the sweetest e-mail from the couple inviting me to their (!) henna celebration. I have NO CLUE what that is and asked if it was ok to bring my camera. They said sure but to make sure I didn’t work too much and enjoyed the food and party (gotta love these two, and their food <3). Well I went and photographed probably EVERYTHING.

Winter wedding: Loes and Harry

This was such a special wedding! Both Loes and Harry are older than 65.  This was definitely my first wedding where there were no nerves anywhere. There was no time for a photoshoot but I managed to get them to pose near this gorgeous window (light!). More storytelling after te click!

Awesome things Marieke makes!

As you all know Marieke makes awesome things. As you might not know she brings them over to me a lot so I can make photos of those awesome things! Also I get to eat them 9 out of 10 times. SCORE. Applying for my job is not an option, I’m keeping it :P I figured a blogpost about all these yummie things was in order :)

image

These are from her most recent batch. If I got it right these are champagne vanilla cupcakes with cream inside. I ATE THEM. Tummy says yay.

image

We are nothing if not productive and try to combine several ideas. Here you see a red velvet cake with eh, cream. Sorry. I’m clueless Marieke. I do know the jars! There’s cupake and cocos flavored stuff in it! YUM!

Cupcakes in jars! So handy. They come with little wooden spoons!

image

These lovely guys are the cakepops Marieke made for the Big Yes Flashmob (click to see it!). There were chocolate and vanille. And I don’t need to say they were tasty as tasty comes right?

image

I think we shot these for Valentines day! But I’m not even sure anymore.. I’m 80% sure though. Cause look cute hearts and pinkness!

image

Probably THE all time favorite. Of who? Well everyone I show it to cause I run around doing that. Really. I do. HOW COOL is this wedding cake?

image

We have a thing for pink. Yes. Also these cupcaketoppers are a downright hit on pinterest. Though you should know ;)

image

Also. Cookies. Yes. NOMnomNOM.

image

Also. This cake. THIS AMAZING CAKE. She made this for my aunt and uncle and the little dachshund is the spitting image of their little Thatcher!

It’s a GIRL. Yeah! I love how she can make something really clean and still cute!

image

Imagine this. You’re getting married. And you want a cake. Well. If you get Marieke to make you one (which you should duh) this is what happens! You get a table filled with all kinds of goodies to try.

image

Those things on the right? APPLE PIE ON A STICK. Enough said.

I kept myself to the rule of ‘one photo per baking session’ so it’s not a gazillion photos ;) I hope you enjoyed Marieke’s mad skills! Yay! You can check out more of her cool things right here (click!)!

New Album! So. Much. Love.

Hi fancy new years people!

GUESS WHAT I GOT.

Ok, you can stop guessing, it’s a new album. It got delivered on the 31st and I can’t say anything else but “OH WOW OH WOW YAAY”. Also it made for a great NYE cause I’m not that into fireworks and bad tv.

This album is by Asuka Books. I ran into their stand at Professional Imaging and fell in love on the spot. They only work with photographers (as in no your mom can’t order her holiday pics there).

I fell in love because their albums were simple but gorgeous. Of course the quality of the prints is amazing too. All the other album vendors had these horrid, tacky albums with far too much ‘bling’. These guys though: NOT THE CASE.

I got a demo album with my favorite specs:

image

It comes in a box that protects it. I can design the box anyway you’d like, but I like it to match the album inside. And that’s black too.

image

When you open the box, it ‘gives’ you the album. Like it’s saying ‘yes! you there! Take a look!’.

image

image

And there she is (yes it’s a girl). She has a ‘micro suede’ cover with the names embossed in gold. That means they’re pressed into the material which looks awesomesauce.

image

See what I mean? It. Looks. So. Classy.

image

Also it’s another ‘layflat’ type album. I don’t like it at all when pages stick up and mess with photos. This one behaves perfectly.

image

See. Perfect!

image

And closed again. I LOVE the structure. You can actually pet this album. Of course there’s many other options possible but this is my personal favorite and as it’s my demo album to have I want i to be my favorite ;) In the box there’s this handy dandy space to store the dvd with the photos. Its. So. Complete.

I LOVE IT.

Now please go and get married and order this album. Okido?

Leendert & Jeanine and also Wij Zijn Gestrand in Ermelo

Recently Wij Zijn Gestrand and I teamed up for the wedding of Jeanine and Leendert. All the way in Ermelo. Honestly I don’t know where that is cause my love drove me there :) But it was pretty, and the location was even prettier. Situated in the middle of a forrest with little lights and fireplaces and yay!

Enter Jeanine and Leendert! It’s kinda odd for me to only arrive at a wedding when it’s all ‘over’ and only the partying remains (‘only’ thsss big party hurrah!). So I instantly went into TAKE ALL THE PHOTOS mode and Leendert and Jeanine were just totally cool with that!

Look at this cool tent for example. Imagine a ton of trees, and another space for people to dance to Wij Zijn Gestrand (which you’ll see more of in following pics duh!).

There they are! See those wooden walls in the background? It was all like that. So pretty! I kinda want to live in that forest.

Anything I put here will be biased so: isn’the gorgeous :)

How COOL is this window sticker? Made from Jeanine and Leendert’s thumb prints. OH MAN I love this.

Meet Leendert! Who is curiously looking about..

Jeanine had a BIG surprise for Leendert. She announced ’cause you’re such a terrible dancer, we prepared something ourselves’. You understand from that sentence on I could only love this girl right?

Oh and also him, cause look at his exicted face!

HOW COOL. I know I’m saying how cool everywhere but come on. Look at this spectacular girl :)

AND look at this thank you from Leendert. Oh how cute how cute how cute!

Wij Zijn Gestrand had reheaersed a special song for the couple (I think it was Racoon?). And I got these not-quite-first-dance shots!

Are you not melting?

The venue was so nice. And the people working there were great. Getting us drinks and whatnot at exactly the right time and wow. Such a great atmosphere!

Ill end with my favorite picture. SO MUCH LOVE. Again I’m usually no longer around by the end of the party but now I was. And I’m so happy I got to make these photos. Again, ALL THE LOVE.

Thank you Jeanine and Leender for having me, and of course having Wij Zijn Gestrand. We all had a blast and are honored to have been a part of your amazing day.

Wedding Albums (and my wrapping skills..)

Hi sweeties!

It was about time I remembered making some photos of my wedding albums. I keep forgetting to cause when I get them I’m just so psyched about it I run over to the couple to give it to them. Not so smart.

This time the couple lives in Groningen which kept immediate running at bay and gave time to make some photos!

image

So! The BIG one is the actual album. The two smaller ones on top are the parent books. They’re exactly the same as the big one, apart from being a cute size smaller (actual sizes are 30 x 30 cm and 20 x 20 cm).

image

This is what my ‘basic’ album looks like. As soon as I have sample album of the ‘advanced’ one Ill totally post! Basic doesn’t mean less quality by the way. All the prints are actual photoprints!

image

And all the albums have this ‘lay-flat’ system. It means you don’t get the bulge you see in regular books. Instead you get this amazingly thin line where it doesn’t mess with your lovely photos =)

image

It works like this ;) Sorry I don’t actually know how it works ofcourse. Some kind of smart binding process! But it has awesome results and I don’t use anything else!

image

See? No bulging of any kind! Perfectly flat pages (hense the name..).

image

I like leather as a cover. It just has this nice feel. Other options are possible of course. As well as a photo design for your cover.

image

image

I like calm layouts. It’s about the photo, not about how well I can decorate the page around it. Also you still have to like it in 50 years and not have your grandkids go “OMG GRANDMA WHAAAT”.

image

Whatever you do, album or not, you’ll get this usb stick from me. It has all your photos on it on high resolution so you can print, and in web size as well so you can easily put them online!

image

image

I tend to buy little boxes and things wherever I go. This way I can try to find something to put the usb in that I think matches your wedding but matches my styles as a photographer too (this means the boyfriend gets dragged into every single store I think is cute, the suffering ;)).

image

This AWESOME thing is one of my latest finds. It kinda floats the usb in there. You can put it on display just like it is. It’s so cool! Totally getting more of these.

image

Et voila.. my packing skills! Not that bad ey? I’m SO SLOW at it though hah. I love getting all the things and ribbons and cards. But when push comes to pull it takes me almost an hour to wrap it all hah. Oh well! I think unwrapping things is GREAT and unwrapping the permanent memory of your wedding should be great too!

I’ll make sure to come with a post about the upcoming ‘advanced’ album! Give me some time on that ;)

Marieke & Luuk

This was quite a special wedding! As I didn’t know I was going to shoot it upon til 8 hours in advance. Poor Gerke had suffered a back injury and called me to fill in for her. As it was quite late the bride (lovely Marieke) had no idea yet.
To top it off I figured: ‘better be early’ and arrived before her master of ceremony could tell her about me coming. Color her surprised! Being the amazing woman she is she learned my name and anounced after 15 minutes: it’s ok! Megin is sweet too!

I WAS SO HAPPY she said that. I would have so understood if she would have been at least the slightest bit upset. But she wasn’t. BAM. This was the start of a lovely, warm and sunny day (in the middle of tons of rain so woo!).

image

I arrived in a very prettily decorated house where there were tons of pretty things for me to photograph.

image

Like this amazing tiara!

image

Marieke’s mom did all the decorating. How amazing is she?

image

And also this dress, right?

image

And meet the misses! Marieke was so much fun to be around. This was wedding filled with laughter!

image

Isn’t that cute? The L stands for Luuk, who is still on his way to Marieke.

image

I love hand shots. In case you haven’t noticed in all my other posts ever.

image

Isn’t she pretty?

image

YES she is!

image

OH and meet Luuk! Who arrived in an amazing car. Looking fab.

image

With an awesome blue suit!

image

Check out this weather. Really. Check. It. Out.

image

Aww I love the first look. And how small she is and how tall and how cute they are and oooh!

image

Yay flowers!

image

This. This smile. Sets the tone for the day!

image

Looking over his lady.

image

Not only looked good I can tell you!

image

And a special duo.

image

Eh oh. Redressing the bride in the kitchen.

image

No matter, everyone is still having a blast.

image

The couple had special pens for everyone who was a witness.

image

So in love!

image

Oh and yes, badass car!

image

How can you not have fun with this lady?

image

Here comes her man.

image

So yes, hands.

image

Are we doing this?

image

Hah yes ;)

image

They needed no posing instructions ;)

image

Nor cuteness instructions.

image

We were looking for a tree. Gerke instructed me the night before there would be an amazing tree. But we all had no clue ..

image

Again I love how petite she is!

image

And yes hands :P

image

A true gent.

image

WE FOUND THE TREE. Luuk wasn’t paying attention though ;)

image

Tree? What tree? I see Marieke ;)

image

These guys had it all. Cool shades, cool everything.

image

I love this.

image

Did I mention Marieke is a teacher? Cause well, she is. And there were hundrdes of kids waiting for her and her hubby to be.

image

MORE smiles!

image

I was so overwhelmed by cuteness at this point. Seriously check out all the cute pink kids.

image

There was a dance. Yes. It was spectacular.

image

Also they were married by her students. Who needs a ceremony after this? (Sorry Mark look at this kid below. He got style!).

image

He’s got this things!

image

Bubbles! ;)

image

Preparation!

image

Cheers!

image

There were some surprises for me during the day, since I only met the two of them well, on the day. This was one of them, Luuk is one hell of a sax player!

image

Proud dad!

image

Meet Mark. He made this an amazing ceremony. Really. Go visit his site (click).

image

Oh and yes hands.

image

A BLAST. Everyone was so well spoken and funny and heartfelt!

image

Lots of love :)

image

Let me help you with that ;)

image

‘For my baby’

image

NOW KISS! Wooo!

image

‘Here you might need these’

image

These two, GOT MOVES.

image

How pretty is this table?

image

Or this cake?

image

Did I mention the moves? That they have?

image

It was a blast. The whole day. And an honor for me to be accepted by Marieke and Luuk so easily. I’m very glad that THEY are happy with my photos and to be able to be a part of their day.

Also one hundred million thanks to the boyfriend. Usually I plan out my weddings to the dot. Parking space you name it. As I didn’t have time for that he came along and was the perfect wingman/dirve/assitant/everything. Thank you <3

Wedding Janine Michael

Yaay I can finally blog about Janine and Michaels wedding! I got to shoot this wedding together with my father. As you might know we team up very often, which allows us the be at places where I just can’t be on my own. I couldn’t help myself and posted a GAZILLION photos which you can see right after the click :)

Janine and Michael contacted me via mail, and I’d never met them before the actual day. We had only met through skype! Which was very handy and fast since we both live on opposite sides of the country.

Their wedding day was so fun, and relaxed. And full of love! Enjoy the photos =)

image

image

I love playing around with well. Everything I can get my hands on. MINT GREEN SHOES. Right? 1000 points. Click read more (if you haven’t already) for the rest of the photos!

image

I loved Janine’s make-up! It was natural but with a touch of glam too!

image

And her hair! Great idea =)

image

image

The funny thing with weddings is that even though I’ve seen these photos LOTS of times, by the time I get to blog them I kindof relive the entire thing. And get all giddy again. I just love moments like these. Mom and sister helping out!

image

image

image

She came in with a smile SO huge! It didn’t go away all day. I totally understand! Psyched!

image

This could be a groom pic right? Isn’t he prince charming?

image

No no not the groom! Dad of prince charming!

image

This is what I mean! While I was with Janine my dad was with Michael, our groom :)

image

image

image

And yes, men do real mean stuff!

image

I love this! It’s even cooler cause I don’t get to see it until we’ve copied the photos at home!

image

Father and son. Wow!

image

image

It’s actually not broken at all ;)

image

On his way to his wife to be!

image

image

Trying to sneak a peek!

image

He has a little bouquet and everything. Heart. Melting.

image

I love this! ALL THE EXPRESSIONS!

image

There she is!

image

I didn’t feel paparazzi at all ;)

image

Oh aren’t they cute? I so love my job! (hah I bet I’m going to repeat this often..)

image

image

image

image

image

image

I have SO many cute car pics. It deserves it’s own blogpost really.

image

Did we mention the big UK bus? No? While I was with Janine and Michael my dad was in THIS COOL BUS!

image

How awesome?!

image

image

image

So Janine and Michael arrived at kasteel Warmelo (gorgeous!) and we had some time for their photos!

image

image

image

image

image

image

image

image

image

image

image

image

I don’t like giving too much ‘commands’. I didn’t have to either! We just went for a walk and out came these gorgeous and relaxed photos! (Did I mention LOVING photos?)

image

A moment together before the ceremony.

image

So far for the stickers ;)

image

image

image

image

Here we go!

image

image

image

Her father giving Janine away. This somehow always really gets to me!

image

image

image

image

As the weather decided to be completely untrustworthy the ceremony took place inside. Which was totally great too =)

image

image

image

I DO!

image

image

This is so cool. During the I Do’s everyone is so silent. And when they kissed, BOOM!

image

How can you not have love for this grandpa and grandma?

image

image

By far the best shot of a signing EVER.

image

I guess because I’m a daddy’s girl too, these kinda shots I just love them!

image

image

image

image

image

This photo can go for most charming cake eating of the year =)

image

image

image

I don’t usually do many group photos. The spontaneous group photos usually work much better. But this group was very well trained and it went great! (apart from prince charming running off hah, but no one seemed bummer by that ;)).

image

BUBBLE TIME.

image

image

image

image

That blog about the car, I maybe should do it ;)

image

Awww the cuties were singing!

image

WOW Janines brother made this!

image

image

OH YEAH. What I meant about spontaneous.. This went as followed ‘GROUP PHOTO YEAH GO GO!’. Works out awesome :)

image

image

image

Speeches! I think I love this the most maybe. So heartfelt and full of love.

image

They had doppelgangers!

image

And a very lovely first dance!

image

And an awesome party! With no trouble getting people to dance!

image

Ok so maybe prince charming was running a little low on energy ;)

image

image

image

Doesn’t this look like a great and fun party? It really was! It was in Hoog Holten which I really want to visit again sometime without being busy with photographing a wedding (if you look caerfully you can spot Marike in some of these photos! Who got married in Holten as well! I loved running into her and catching up.

My dad and I were assisted during the day by Jasper, who did a kickass job. We were a superteam. Really. Can’t wait til the next one!

But for now: thank you so much Janine and Michael for trusting us and having us with you on this amazing day. Truly awesome and wonderful!

The Big Flashmob

We’ve been working on this for quite some time. When I say we I mean The Big Yes (click) ofcourse and not myself in plural. We figured we should do fun things to make people happy, and what’s more fun than organizing a flashmob with a choir and snacks for the audience? Right? I don’t know what is.

SO without further ado here it is:

I’m so psyched about it. Not just because it’s a flashmob. But because it took a ton of people to pull it off, and I love how much everyone made this happen. And how talented they all are.

I mean the choir is just fabulous, as is the band ofcourse, and Marieke made super amazing cakepops for the audience to nibble on. Then there was the film crew of six, the amazing Adrie for the audio mix, and then Jasper was running around making photos as well. Just, Wow.

Because there was lots to do right after the flashmob was over I’m afraid we couldn’t get the whole group for this shot. Nevertheless I love it!

Happy people with yummy cakepops! They were either chocolate or vanilla on the inside, surprise!

Did I mention my dad took these photos? And was there to film with us as well? Well he was. And I’m so grateful we get to do such fun stuff together!

In the next few days I’ll be trying to post some more pics of the flashmob as I get them, and I’m also trying to work on some behind the scenes material!

For now feel free to join us on facebook (click) for more regular tadbits of news!
