Veerle and Edwin: pre-baby (or: pregnant)

I feel so weird categorizing these posts as ‘pregnant’. It’s not like Edwin suddenly got bigger boobs you know. Either way THEY are having a baby. Soon! It’s so exciting! I’ve known Edwin forever. And Veerle a bit shorter than forever. And they’re going to be a mom and dad. And they are SO COOL about it. Dear god I’d be panicking all over the place.

Nevertheless these two had time to bake me cookies, give me tea and peptalk me through the day (I have a serious shoulder injury going on, which started the day before their shoot. Could not lift a water bottle. Not kidding).

Please enjoy these two pretty people. I know I did!

Cooper’s (first) birth(day)

Oh boy. I got to photograph something so special. Amazing Kim and Ron allowed me to be there with them during the birth of their son Cooper. I’m still completely awed when I look back at the pictures and am stoked I get to share them with you.

image

As you can imagine I’ve never been present during a birth (apart from my own but well, memory is limited). So everything was NEW. The midwife was really cool about me being there and explaining me all kinds of things. This gadget makes you hear the little babies heartbeat. Which sounds like an army marching IMO.

image

Dads can’t really do much but wait. This is such a Ron picture. At least as I know him :)

image

Of course they can hold hands. Which is completely their job.

image

Lots of THINGS. I’m not sure what and how. It’s quite a science.

image

The only thing I was worried about, was seeing Kim in pain. And I predicted that right. It’s so hard seeing someone you care about in a lot of pain.

image

She was a super hero btw. She was not feeling too great at all here but still all smiles at the staff and nurses. As far as I’m concerned she could have been yelling at everyone and still be totally OK in my book.

image

Those nails! Most stylish birth ever.

image

Also on the toes. Of course.

image

I think this is one of the most emotional pictures I ever took. I promised myself to photograph the ‘story’ as it developed. And so I did.

image

I AM SO PROUD OF HER. AND I TOTALLY CRIED.

image

This is Cooper! He was superchill straight away. He did the obligatory cry and then just chilled and looked around. It was such an amazing moment. This is the first picture. Ever. He had been in the world for mere seconds. Wow.

image

Look at those little smudgy feet. Aw!

image

Dad got to do the honors!

image

<3 so much love

image

Kim’s mother was there as well. She was such a support. Everyone was such a support!

image

Many peeking at the new family member!

image

Dad has to make the phonecalls ofc.

image

Obsessed with feet. Yes. SO TINY.

image

See? Just chilling. Looking around like a boss. Totally on top of things.

image

Just in case I messed up ;)

Oh wow I’m still so honored to have been allowed there. It’s so amazing to realize that little baby is only minutes old. I was on such a natural high the days after.

Thank you Kim and Ron (and Cooper!). Thank you! I hope I get to do this again for someone someday :)

Sunny day in Hoek van Holland (With Dakota & Kim & Ron)

Yay! There’s a little baby coming and there was a card needed to announce this. Also I got promised hugs and kisses from the CUTEST cutiepie of all: Dakota.

So off to Hoek van Holland I went. WIth my camera. OFC. Where Ron had magically made his awesome jeep appear. So awesome! Ofcourse I wanted to be in it for the ride to the beach. So I was cold in 10 seconds. But no less awesome.

image

image

LOOK. It has buttons to signal left and right. It’s so cool.

image

I’m not sure how I like glitter shoes and military vehicles at the same time but I guess I do. SO cooooool!

image

Specially with cute girls on them! The little doggy is Dixie. As Dakota announced loudly when I arrived “THIS IS DIXIE”. So. That was cleared up. Dixie can always be found near Dakota. She tried to climb up on the jeep. SUCH CUTE.

image

I has a stick! And will absolutely not do whatever it is we’re here for.

image

OH whatever. BYE.

image

OH WAIT I can chase my dad with it, GREAT!
We were definitely not here to make photos of her chasing her dad with a stick. But as the photo for the card will have the name of the sibling to be on it. I can’t show everything ;)

image

But I can show the gorgeous mommy!

image

STUNNER.

Obviously I can’t wait to make photos of little baby fingers and feet. For now I’m super happy with this sunny day spent on the beach and drinking hot coco with lovely people.

Geert & Stephanie & Melle

On a very very cold but sunny day I travelled to Dordrecht to meet baby Melle. And ooh such a pretty little girl Geert and Stephanie made! Meet little Melle!

Little tiny fingers and a very proud dad!

I love these tiny teensy feet and toes and fingers. Her mom and dad warned me she would probably be fast asleep when I was there. Though the opposite was true! Miss Melle decided the big black clicking thing was very interesting!

But as it goes with little girls, she DID fall asleep eventually ;)

I’m honored to have met this little human being. Thank you so much for having me over Geert and Stephanie!

Ayla!

Willeke and Jan-Jaap have made the cutest little fluffy girl imaginable and named her ‘Ayla’. Not only a super nice Irish name (I’m sticking with Irish, obviously) but also based on one of my favorite books! How awesome is that. Not only is her name awesome but so is she. It’s very awe inspiring to be with a tiny little human that’s only been around for 13 days. I daresay mom and dad did a great job here cause she is just perfect!

Even cooler, I got to make some photos!

image

Maybe it’s just cause I’m female but isn’t this just too cute? And this is just her room! I can entertain myself for hours on end with every little thing in any room, but a little baby’s room really is the bees knees for me :)

image

And there she is! Perfect tiny little feet and ears and fingers and nose and everything. She even had mini hiccups. She can produce far louder than mini sounds too ;)

Awesome. So honored to have been allowed to make these photos. I wish this little family all the love and health in the world.

Ron & Dakota

As a surprise for Ron, Kim asked me to take photos of him and their little girl! I loved the idea straight away (how can you not like surprising people) and I also love this little girl!

Don’t you just go AW at that little hand clutching her daddy’s shirt? ‘Mine!’

Tiny feet! Oh man I’m such a fan of her tiny feet and hands :)

Ok before I post every single photo from the shoot I’ll just stop here.. I loved making these photos! Also thanks to Ron and Kim (and little Dakota of course) I spent a lovely afternoon in Hoek van Holland leaving well fed and completely happy!
