A few weeks back I received a phonecall by Anke, she told me about her friend Lieke. Lieke just fought her way through chemo therapy and was on the verge of kicking breast cancers butt. To finish her treatment she has to undergo surgery to remove her breasts. Anke asked me if I would perhaps make some photos of Lieke.
I didn’t think twice and said yes. Ofcourse. If I could do anything that would slightly help her: yes. And yes again. I started looking for a MUA (make up artist) that felt the same way so we could make the photoshoot as much fun as possible for her. I found Manon Morsch who said yes just as quickly as I did.
Lieke came over to my house where I improvised a little home studio. With lots of tea, cookies and other good stuff we had a wonderful day. Manon did an amazing job and made Lieke even more stunning than she already is.
See what I mean? Gorgeous girl!
And to finish, one of Lieke’s favorites:
What a stunning lady!
After receiving her photos Lieke was very glad to have done the photoshoot, and ofcourse for having the photos as well. After talking to her about this, we figured maybe more women in her position would want to have photos like this, but don’t know where to look, or find it hard to just approach a photographer. Something I can absolutely relate to being a woman.
I think it would be a very good thing if this was more easy to find (when fighting cancer you’ll have a lot of other things on your mind obviously). I’ll be thinking about ways to maybe start, or add to an existing foundation so this can be something all women battling breast cancer at least have heard about. And in an ideal situation, can all have amazing pictures of how gorgeous they are.
If you have any ideas, suggestions, tips, or want to help or to brainstorm about this with me. Please feel free to send me an email at email@example.com or facebook me or anything you’d like :)
ps obviously I can’t and won’t post the entire shoot, you know, girls privacy and all that :)
