Fleetwood Mac & Soundgarden & Leonard Cohen

For few months now I’ve been making photos for the awesome Lust for Life Magazine. They send me out and about and I get to see amazing musicians! Hurrah! So far I’ve been to three great acts of which I promised to post a bit more imagery!

I’m a complete Fleetwood Mac noob. So don’t expect me to name anyone besides Stevie Nicks ok ;) BUT THIS DRUMMER. HE ROCKS.

I love. The. Hand.

LOOK I know the female singer ;) This was my first time making photos all the way from the sound and light tables in the Ziggo Dome. I’m pretty happy with how that turned out. Cause admittedly, I was a bit nervous about it!

I also got to see Leonard Cohen in Ahoy. Right next to my house yay! He is such a gent!

During the first song he was moving about and rocking the stage.

This is the photo you can find in the most recent Lust for Life magazine. Hurrah! Leonard would go on to play for THREE hours. THREE. I tell ya.

I also got to see Soundgarden! Another first time in the Heineken Music Hall for me.

I had a total blast. Really. So grateful for getting the opportunity to do this. Thanks LFL Eva and MusicMaker Patrick :)

I will be going to The National as well soon. And when I collect some more music related shoots I’ll bundle them together as well!

Of all three of these acts I have to say Leonard Cohen stuck with me the most. But also some sad news, I learned the bassplayer from Fleetwood Mac is ill, and they stopped touring. How fast things go.

If you want to read the Fleetwood Mac review by Lust for Life click here and for the Leonard Cohen one here and of course the Soundgarden one right here!

Maartje & Harm: Weg

I met Harm and Maartje during a 5 minute shoot for some promotional photos. I didn’t really get to talk to them much but lucky me they mailed me to make photos for them! Woohoo! The photos are for their act ‘Weg’ which you can check out here (click!)

Please don’t shoot me if I’m getting it wrong Maartje & Harm but their performance is about Maartje playing Harm’s wife. She wants to leave, and he wants her to stay.

They never speak but tell you the story through movement. It’s so cool and impressive.

Also they didn’t mind doing things a million times so I could get every angle!

CHECK THAT OUT. The trust between these two is something amazing to witness.

Her eyes. All points for pretty go to her eyes.

They played out the performance for me so I could capture the feeling. It was really cool in the middle of a field we got to ‘borrow’ from a local farmer.

Did I mention they were real troopers? We had to sprint out of the field several times with all our gear to hide from the rain!

They play this piece so well. Really. If you get the chance to see them perform. GO.

Look at our location! Woo!

And then there was this orange ball scene. WOW.

These two are making a new definition of juggling (ok circus folk please don’t laugh at me I know nothing of juggling and this is SO MUCH COOLER than creepy clowns).

Did you guess they’re the cutest couple in real life too? If not now I told ya :P I think it really helps how they perform together.

Also sexiest photo with orange ball EVER. DONE.

Right after this a MASSIVE amounts of rain came down so we ran for the car.

I loved their patience with me so I could make these kind of shots as well. I love the details and hands.

You see how she is looking away all the time? Wanting to leave. I love how all the photos portray a bit of the theme.

Though not sure she wants to leave!

Also they can do cool stuff!

Pretty girl!

Pretty boy!

I love doing shoots like this! Where I can try to add something to someone else’s creation. It’s superfun for me to work with such creative and talented people! THANK YOU Maartje and Harm :)

Leendert & Jeanine and also Wij Zijn Gestrand in Ermelo

Recently Wij Zijn Gestrand and I teamed up for the wedding of Jeanine and Leendert. All the way in Ermelo. Honestly I don’t know where that is cause my love drove me there :) But it was pretty, and the location was even prettier. Situated in the middle of a forrest with little lights and fireplaces and yay!

Enter Jeanine and Leendert! It’s kinda odd for me to only arrive at a wedding when it’s all ‘over’ and only the partying remains (‘only’ thsss big party hurrah!). So I instantly went into TAKE ALL THE PHOTOS mode and Leendert and Jeanine were just totally cool with that!

Look at this cool tent for example. Imagine a ton of trees, and another space for people to dance to Wij Zijn Gestrand (which you’ll see more of in following pics duh!).

There they are! See those wooden walls in the background? It was all like that. So pretty! I kinda want to live in that forest.

Anything I put here will be biased so: isn’the gorgeous :)

How COOL is this window sticker? Made from Jeanine and Leendert’s thumb prints. OH MAN I love this.

Meet Leendert! Who is curiously looking about..

Jeanine had a BIG surprise for Leendert. She announced ’cause you’re such a terrible dancer, we prepared something ourselves’. You understand from that sentence on I could only love this girl right?

Oh and also him, cause look at his exicted face!

HOW COOL. I know I’m saying how cool everywhere but come on. Look at this spectacular girl :)

AND look at this thank you from Leendert. Oh how cute how cute how cute!

Wij Zijn Gestrand had reheaersed a special song for the couple (I think it was Racoon?). And I got these not-quite-first-dance shots!

Are you not melting?

The venue was so nice. And the people working there were great. Getting us drinks and whatnot at exactly the right time and wow. Such a great atmosphere!

Ill end with my favorite picture. SO MUCH LOVE. Again I’m usually no longer around by the end of the party but now I was. And I’m so happy I got to make these photos. Again, ALL THE LOVE.

Thank you Jeanine and Leender for having me, and of course having Wij Zijn Gestrand. We all had a blast and are honored to have been a part of your amazing day.

Wedding Albums (and my wrapping skills..)

Hi sweeties!

It was about time I remembered making some photos of my wedding albums. I keep forgetting to cause when I get them I’m just so psyched about it I run over to the couple to give it to them. Not so smart.

This time the couple lives in Groningen which kept immediate running at bay and gave time to make some photos!

So! The BIG one is the actual album. The two smaller ones on top are the parent books. They’re exactly the same as the big one, apart from being a cute size smaller (actual sizes are 30 x 30 cm and 20 x 20 cm).

This is what my ‘basic’ album looks like. As soon as I have sample album of the ‘advanced’ one Ill totally post! Basic doesn’t mean less quality by the way. All the prints are actual photoprints!

And all the albums have this ‘lay-flat’ system. It means you don’t get the bulge you see in regular books. Instead you get this amazingly thin line where it doesn’t mess with your lovely photos =)

It works like this ;) Sorry I don’t actually know how it works ofcourse. Some kind of smart binding process! But it has awesome results and I don’t use anything else!

See? No bulging of any kind! Perfectly flat pages (hense the name..).

I like leather as a cover. It just has this nice feel. Other options are possible of course. As well as a photo design for your cover.

I like calm layouts. It’s about the photo, not about how well I can decorate the page around it. Also you still have to like it in 50 years and not have your grandkids go “OMG GRANDMA WHAAAT”.

Whatever you do, album or not, you’ll get this usb stick from me. It has all your photos on it on high resolution so you can print, and in web size as well so you can easily put them online!

I tend to buy little boxes and things wherever I go. This way I can try to find something to put the usb in that I think matches your wedding but matches my styles as a photographer too (this means the boyfriend gets dragged into every single store I think is cute, the suffering ;)).

This AWESOME thing is one of my latest finds. It kinda floats the usb in there. You can put it on display just like it is. It’s so cool! Totally getting more of these.

Et voila.. my packing skills! Not that bad ey? I’m SO SLOW at it though hah. I love getting all the things and ribbons and cards. But when push comes to pull it takes me almost an hour to wrap it all hah. Oh well! I think unwrapping things is GREAT and unwrapping the permanent memory of your wedding should be great too!

I’ll make sure to come with a post about the upcoming ‘advanced’ album! Give me some time on that ;)
